Ingredients
1 lb sirloin steak, thinly sliced against the grain
1/4 cup corn starch
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp fresh garlic (cloves), minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water
Optional: white rice, green onions, or sesame seeds for garnish
Directions
- Prep the Beef:
Toss sliced steak in cornstarch until evenly coated. Let sit for 10 minutes. - Make the Sauce:
In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, water, garlic, and ginger. Set aside. - Sear the Beef:
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high. Sear steak in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until crisp and browned. Remove and set aside. - Combine and Simmer:
Pour sauce into the skillet. Bring to a simmer, then add cooked beef. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the meat. - Serve:
Plate over white rice and garnish with green onions or sesame seeds.
Notes
- ✅ Slice steak thin for best texture — flank or ribeye works too
✅ Double the sauce if you love it extra saucy
