Ingredients
1 lb Italian sausage mild or spicy
1/2 cup onion, diced
2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
2 cups marinara sauce
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Directions
- Boil Pasta: Cook ziti in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Cook Sausage: In a skillet, brown Italian sausage with onion. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more. Drain excess grease.
- Mix & Layer: In a bowl, mix sausage mixture with marinara, garlic powder, and cooked pasta. Stir in half of the mozzarella and all of the parmesan.
- Bake: Transfer to a greased baking pan, top with remaining mozzarella, and bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Rest & Serve: Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
