Ingredients
1 large sweet onion (cut into ½-inch rings)
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons milk
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
¼ cup grated Parmesan (optional)
Cooking spray or oil spray
Directions
- Prep the Onion: Slice the onion into rings and separate them.
- Set Up Breading Station: In one bowl, whisk together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk. In a third bowl, mix panko and Parmesan.
- Bread the Onion Rings: Dredge each ring in flour, dip into egg mixture, then coat in panko. Press the breadcrumbs firmly for maximum crunch.
- Air Fry: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the onion rings with oil and place them in a single layer. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden brown.
- Serve: Let cool slightly and enjoy with ketchup, ranch, or your favorite dip!
Notes
- ✅ For extra crunch, repeat the egg and panko step for a double coating.
✅ Avoid overcrowding the air fryer; cook in batches if needed.
✅ For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne to the flour mixture. - CLICK HERE to see which Air Fryers I recommend.
