My Story

In 2019, a serious accident left me with a broken back and two ruptured disks. Once an active person, I found myself suddenly living a sedentary lifestyle and as a result, I gained 130 pounds. The more weight I gained, the harder and more painful it became to exercise and continue physical therapy. Despite my efforts and dedication, I was only able to lose 45 pounds before hitting a frustrating plateau.

That’s when my doctor referred me to a weight loss specialist and nutritionist, and I began my journey with semaglutide (Wegovy). One of the first things my doctor stressed was the importance of hydration, at least eight cups (64 ounces) of water per day, and the need for high protein intake. I was told to aim for a minimum of 120 grams of protein daily. At first, this goal felt impossible.

With the help of a dietitian, I learned that getting enough protein wasn’t as difficult as I had feared. I developed a collection of tasty, high-protein, easy-to-make meals, and by incorporating protein powder and the occasional protein bar, hitting that 120-gram goal became manageable.

I also discovered the importance of the right supplements. In addition to protein, my doctor and nutritionist recommended a high-quality multivitamin, probiotics, magnesium, fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin D, all crucial for maintaining balance and wellness on a GLP-1 medication.
