My Story

In 2019, a serious accident left me with a broken back and two ruptured disks. Once an active person, I found myself suddenly living a sedentary lifestyle — and as a result, I gained 130 pounds. The more weight I gained, the harder and more painful it became to exercise and continue physical therapy. Despite my efforts and dedication, I was only able to lose 45 pounds before hitting a frustrating plateau.

That’s when my doctor referred me to a weight loss specialist and nutritionist, and I began my journey with semaglutide (Wegovy). One of the first things my doctor stressed was the importance of hydration — at least eight cups (64 ounces) of water per day — and the need for high protein intake. I was told to aim for a minimum of 120 grams of protein daily. At first, this goal felt impossible.

With the help of a dietitian, I learned that getting enough protein wasn’t as difficult as I had feared. I developed a collection of tasty, high-protein, easy-to-make meals, and by incorporating protein powder and the occasional protein bar, hitting that 120-gram goal became manageable.

I also discovered the importance of the right supplements. In addition to protein, my doctor and nutritionist recommended a high-quality multivitamin, probiotics, magnesium, fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin D — all crucial for maintaining balance and wellness on a GLP-1 medication.
